Position: Ministry Associate for Children and Families 

​

Purpose: This is a full-time ministry position at Northminster Presbyterian Church.  The Pastor will directly supervise the employee in this Ministry position.  The individual in this position should be passionate for church revitalization and growth as people are connected to Christ. This individual should also be committed to creating purposeful, intentional relationships with youth, their families, and young adults.

Responsibilities and Functions: 

  • Must be available every Sunday from 8:30 AM – 12:00 PM. 

  • Develop and staff a Christian Education Team which includes the recruitment and training of teachers. 

  • Weekly planning for Sunday Church School. 

  • Develop a youth group and participate in a team establishing a Presbytery youth group. Participate in joint projects with other local youth groups in association with the Presbytery.  

  • Reach out to members with children (active and inactive) to become more active in our Church. 

  • Development of community programs to encourage and increase church membership.  

  • Coordinate and facilitate youth participation in special events as determined with Pastor (Bible Club, Christmas program, etc.). 

  • Become acquainted with Northminster Early Childhood Center staff and assist in story time or other activities as needed.  

  • Develop a Parents and Church member group for the Northminster Early Childhood Center. 

  • Organize, schedule, and maintain preparation and schedule for Confirmation of youth.  

  • Create purposeful, intentional relationships with youth, their families, and young adults, while retaining  current children and families. 

  • Submit brief monthly reports and attend Session meetings, upon request. 

  • Consult with Pastor to solve problems occurring between regular meetings. 

  • Submit a written evaluation at the end of the year. 

  • Plan, organize, and attend youth special projects and events to include (but not limited to) Triennium, mission trips, and confirmation. 

  • Additional duties as assigned.  

 

Qualifications:  

  • A degree in ministry for children and families or related degree preferred OR equivalent experience. 

  • Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite (outlook, word, excel, PowerPoint) or the ability to learn the system.  

  • Must be fully vaccinated (or willing to become fully vaccinated prior to hiring) for COVID-19 along with regular vaccination schedule. 

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and understand/respect boundaries. 

  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and delegate tasks and follow through to completion. 

  • Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with volunteers and other paid staff. 

  • Ability to bring innovative, creative, and fresh ideas to the position.  

  • Ability to complete and pass a successful background check and drug test.
